Looking for Nunapitchuk
Got started on the late side, but we decided to try to get to Nunap, a village 5ish miles as the crow flies. So off we went with Tim's map, Eli's GPS, and Dorothy's phone. We heard they had restaurant and wanted a hamburger and fries really bad!
Dorothy calling her friends that teach in Nunap saying we were on our way. She shared that we may need a place to overnight if it got too late to return.
It may look straightforward, but there were back slews all over the place. We finally had to bag it as we got ourselves into a small lake with a smaller channel leading out.
So, we made the decision that before it got too late we should turn around. And, it was COLD!
Dorothy ended up back on the phone saying we were turning around.
I got to be Sacajawea up front and on the way home was able to use the GPS to follow our trail back to Atmau. We found out later we could have kept going, that we hadn't gone far enough to the "cliffs" which would have taken us to the crossing of the Johnson River.
