Halloween in school

Our principal ordered pumpkins for all the classrooms. The third and fourth graders found all kinds of things to do with theirs.

Then we had a Halloween Carnival that the Student Government sponsored. Decorations and games were set up by these high school students. As the community came in they were given the chance to purchase tickets to play. Each ticket was a quarter.

Eventually the place was packed with elders taking up most of the bleacher space.

I was in charge of the mini golf game, and mini it was. Even on my knees I still had to bend over to use the club. The golfers had a choice of a pink club or a blue club and two balls. Here one can see Eli showing a special technique. Not sure what it was, but he got them heading the right direction.

This one was fun to watch it freeze, then thaw and rot.....

My seventh and eighth grade health class making decorations for the haunted house that was to take place the next night. Student Government also took this one on. They were very busy that week!

We donated our original pumpkin to the first and second graders as theirs had begun to rot. Not sure when these were picked and exactly where they came from...

Quite the rug! This is my office and with ten students in here for a class,  I knew we'd be on the floor.

I took the pumpkin seeds home and cooked them three different ways. The next day we were food scientists in for a taste test (thanks Cindy L. for training!). One set just had sprinkled salt, one set had hot sauce, and the last had butter and Worchester Sauce. I thought for sure the "hot-sauced ones" would come flying out, but nope. They all got gobbled up and all equally enjoyed. It was their first time eating the seeds.
