Different dance groups from around the state were scheduled all weekend. These are the Tununak dancers, from the coast.

This group had many elders in it. Several of these people are invited to different villages to teach traditional Eskimo dancing during schools' Cultural Week. Most villages have a week in the spring where different crafts and activities are taught to the students of all ages.

This group is from Pilot Station. The belts are unusual for this area.

Drummers come with their dance groups. They begin their song, drums slowly beating. The dancers bounce and sway, movements telling a story. When the dance is over, no rest, they move into it again. These dance/songs are repeated several times getting faster and louder as they go. Often after the last dance is done giggles and laughter break out as all had so much fun.
