First boat ride of the fall

Well, first came the bailing. Then came the pumping of the gas line. We had quite a following on the way to where the boat was tied up.

AtmauNepenthe had been passed on to Eli last spring, and he hadn't gotten much of a chance this fall to get it out.

 One giant playground!

After several pulls, we were off. We headed upriver towards Nunapitchuk.

We went upriver for about a half hour, then turned around when we got to the big lake. On our way we must have passed at least six beaver. We could see them quietly swimming along shore, then with a splash, dive. It was cold, but a beautiful evening to be out.

  1. THanks again, Cindy for the pictures and stories. It is great to have your background experience when telling the anecdotal stories o the village and activities, The children, the water, and how it affects the people. The pictures are excellent as usual and quite filled with "what it is like each day". What do you mean youi can't take aurora pictures? There has to be a way to set the film speed on those digital cameras of most all kinds. Maybe you have tried? If you can't get it , maybe I could research your camera to find out how. I have a friend in Fairbanks who is great at that (aurora) I coud ask him. What kind of a camera do you have? All well here. Jim
